LOA Heat jump up to fourth in premier Budweiser soccer

[April 3, 2019 - Harmon, Guam] Lots of Art Tattoo Heat takes over the fourth spot in Budweiser Soccer League Premier Division standings with its Week 18 win coupled with a loss by Quality Distributors FC Saturday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

LOA Heat (6-7-3) defeated Guam Shipyard 4-2 with a hat trick by Seth Surber and one goal from Surber’s older brother Keith. Jake Quichocho and Damien Khoo scored for Guam Shipyard in the loss.

The win helped LOA Heat take the fourth place spot from Quality Distributors FC, which fell to league leaders NAPA Rovers FC 6-2 in the teams’ Week 18 fixture. Golden Boot leader Min Sung Choi and Kayode Lawson each scored twice for the Rovers and teammates Natsuki Recella and Bryan Cadiz also scored. Takefumi Inoue and Ernest Baah scored for Quality (6-9-1).

With the six goals scored in Week 18, the Rovers (14-0-2) now have scored over 100 goals for the second-straight season. The team currently boasts the league-best 101 goals scored and 18 goals allowed, also currently a league best, with five more matches left to play.

In other matches, No. 2 Bank of Guam Strykers defeated Manhoben Lalahi 8-2 led by Ian Mariano’s four goals. Scott Spindel, Nichika Fermin, Ethan Elwell, and Andre Gadia also scored in the win. Shaun-Paul Martinez and Mark Iseke scored Manhoben Lalahi’s goals in the second half.

With the win, the Strykers move up to 12-1-2 for the season and Manhoben Lalahi drop to 10-4-2.

The Islanders FC shut out the Sidekicks 2-0 with goals by Patson Haimin and Antonio Prieto, both coming in the first half. With the win, the Islanders move up to 6-10-1 for the season and the Sidekicks drop to 3-11-2.

The Premier Division continues Wednesday with a make-up match between the Sidekicks and Quality at 9 p.m. at GFA, then starts up again on Saturday evening with regularly scheduled matches.

Guam Shipyard will take on the Bank of Guam Strykers at 6:30 p.m. on UA-1, while the NAPA Rovers play against Lots of Art Tattoo Heat at the same kick off time on UA-2. The Sidekicks play against Manhoben Lalahi at 8:30 p.m. on UA-1 and Quality Distributors will face off against Islanders FC, also at 8:30 p.m. on UA-2.

The GFA Competitions Department has scheduled the official draw for both the Bank of Guam 12th Annual GFA Cup men’s soccer tournament and the Jamaican Grill Women’s GFA Cup women’s soccer tournament for April 13. The draw, which will fill in the preliminary round fixtures for both competitions, will be live streamed on GFA’s Internet TV page, https://mycujoo.tv/guamfa

More details on the draw will be released at a later date.
