Budweiser Soccer League goes into 2018-19 holiday break

[November 25, 2018 - Harmon, Guam] The NAPA Rovers FC remain as the lone undefeated team of the Budweiser Soccer League Premier Division through to the holiday break following 4-2 comeback victory over the ASC Trust Islanders Saturday at the Guam Football Association National Training Center.

After the Islanders’ Kyle Perez and Eddie Cho netted their team’s goals within the first three minutes of play, the Rovers managed to level the match by halftime with goals from Matt Robles and Devan Mendiola.

Fifteen minutes into the deciding half, another goal from Mendiola and a long-distance strike from Nathan Sablan eventually secured the win for the Rovers.

In Saturday’s other matches, Lots of Art Tattoo Heat goes into the league break on a high note, blanking previously undefeated Bank of Guam Strykers FC 3-0. Seth Surber and Lance Chargualaf scored one each for the LOA Heat. The team’s other goal came on a Strykers’ own goal in the 62nd minute.

The Sidekicks defeated Guam Shipyard 4-0 with a hat trick from Hernan Bonsembiante and one goal from Napu Mesa.

Manhoben Lalahi edged Quality Distributors 1-0 with a goal from James Lee.

In rescheduled matches played earlier in the week, Quality Distributors slipped past Guam Shipyard 4-3 with a hat trick by Ernest Boah and one goal from Devin Maluwelmeng. Francisco Santos, Jan Flores, and Damien Khoo each scored once for Guam Shipyard.

Manhoben Lalahi defeated the ASC Trust Islanders 1-0 with a first-half goal from Micah Hennegan.

LOA Heat and the Sidekicks settled for a 1-1 draw. Lance Chargualaf scored for LOA Heat and Kristian Cruz scored for the Sidekicks.

As Guam’s domestic leagues take a break through to January next year, the EAFF E-1 Football Championship Round 2 Women’s Competition takes center stage at GFA beginning Dec. 1. 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup-bound China PR, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, and Mongolia will compete for a spot in the final round of the East Asian region’s flagship women’s competition.

In addition to players and officials from the competing teams, VIPs and executives from all over Asia will arrive in Guam for the tournament, as well as officials from Korea Republic, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and the United States.
