Defending champion Quality lone undefeated team in beach soccer

Defending champions Quality Distributors will enter Week 3 of the Land Shark Beach Soccer League as the lone undefeated team.

After a pair of wins in Week 1, Quality (3-0) next handed the Crushers FC Orange (2-1) its first loss of the season, winning 9-4 in Week 2 play. Scott Spindel and Jan-Willem Staman led the Quality attack with four goals each. Mark Chargualaf also scored for Quality.

Jon Odell contributed a hat trick for the Crushers FC Orange and Jason Martin scored the team’s other goal.

The Crushers FC Orange bounced back in its next match of the day, edging the Paintco Strykers 10-9. The Strykers' Stanley Rice launched a shot from near mid-court that hit the back of the net, but it was called off as match referees deemed the final whistle was blown before the shot attempt.

Doosan FC move up to 3rd in Land Shark Beach Soccer League

The Pago Bay Disasters' Gavin Santos takes a shot facing defensive pressure from Doosan FC's Donovan Alger in a 2013 Land Shark Beach Soccer League match at the Guam Football Association National Training Center beach court. Doosan defeated the Disasters 7-5.Doosan FC picked up a 13-8 win over the Paintco Strykers and a 7-5 victory over the Pago Bay Disasters in Week 2 of the Land Shark Beach Soccer League to catapult the team to third place in league rankings. Doosan put on its strongest goal-scoring showing in the third period against the Strykers, scoring seven goals to prevent the league’s defending champions from catching up in the final 15 minutes of the match. The match was level at 2-all at the end of the first period, but Doosan began to pull away in the second period, finishing with a 6-3 lead going into the final period at the Guam Football Association National Training Center beach court.

Despite the loss, the Strykers’ F.J. Chargualaf led all scorers with four goals. Camden Aguon finished with a hat trick for the Strykers and Jarrod Reyes scored his team’s other goal. Matt Robles led Doosan with a hat trick and teammates Allan Angoco, Arjay Valencia, and Cheyne Robles each scored twice. Gerry Lunod, Cameron Lunod, Luis Quichocho and Felix Fontanilla each scored once for the winning team.

Strykers open Land Shark Beach Soccer League with win

The Strykers defeated the Disasters 11-7.The Paintco Strykers needed a strong third period to outlast the Pago Bay Disasters 11-7 on opening weekend of the 2013 Land Shark Beach Soccer League at the Guam Football Association beach soccer court.

The Disasters’ Ray Blas opened scoring in the first minute of the match, managing to wrest the ball from the hand of Strykers’ goalkeeper Kevin Knaeble and take a shot into the empty goal. Six minutes later, a shot by Alvin Merfalen put the league’s newcomers at a 2-0 advantage over the defending champions. The Strykers’ Camden Aguon scored seconds later on the ensuing kick off, and later, a goal by Jared Reyes from a Christian Dickson assist knotted the match before the whistle ending the first period.

Quality Distributors FC wins Land Shark Beach Soccer crown

Quality Distributors FC claimed the 2013 Land Shark Beach Soccer League crown with a narrow 7-6 victory over Doosan FC in the league's championship game at the Guam Football Association National Training Center beach soccer court. Team members posing with the championship plaque are, from left to right, David John Cruz, David Bush, Imry Campbell, Jimmy Bush, Mark Chargualaf, Joshua Mendiola, Philip Ogo, Kaito Inoue and Brett Maluwelmeng. Cruz and Chargualaf each scored twice and Bush, Campbell and Inoue each scored once for the winning team. Cheyne Robles scored twice for Doosan and teammates Luis Quichocho, Allan Angoco, Anthony Manibusan and Matt Robles each contributed one goal.
